How
Do You Know Your Young Students Have Really
Learned
Anything?
Every
year your church, Bible study group, or you as a parent,
have invested a lot of money and time in getting a
curriculum you think think will teach your children the
basics. But how do you know they will retain it beyond the
period you teach it. Sadly, most children can't really
recall what they have learned the week after they've been
presented even the best of lessons.
Why Is This?
-
Most curriculums do not spend the time
reviewing what has previously been taught and learned.
-
Many teachers and publishers don't bother
having kids memorize the basic question and answer that
the lesson is attempting to convey.
-
The Bible verses are not integrated into
the lessons and the Bible verses are not memorized.
-
Review games are not part of the lesson.
-
The crafts don't remind the kids what the
basic Bible truth is.
-
New concepts are introduced without the
children truly understanding why the previous truth was
taught.
-
A lot of "glitter" and "pizazz" is given
to keep the kids attention without understanding why it
is being presented. For instance, kids love puppets and
skits, but these teaching aids must point back to the
essence of the lesson.
How Can We Solve This?
-
The
Bible Building Blocks of the Faith from Children's
Ministry International (CMI) take 14 series to ensure
all the basics of the Christian religion are taught
straight from the Bible.
-
Every concept is presented visually for
the child to "see" as they "hear" the truths.
-
Bible Memory Verses are introduced with
the concept and memorized.
-
The Bible Stories are introduced with the
main concept in mind to under gird and emphasize the
basic truth. The child sees that the Bible confirms the
truth.
-
The songs are the Bible verses and they
are on a CD with children singing (after they have
learned it, there is a music only segment of the CD).
Therefore, the children learn the easy-to-sing songs and
are putting the Bible verse into their minds at the same
time.
-
Each craft has the basic idea of the
lesson as its theme. As the child looks at the craft,
they are reminded of what they have learned. Coloring
books are also available with all the visuals seen in
the coloring book.
-
Every lesson has a review game to ensure
the children have learned the essence of the lesson.
Now What?
-
Go to our web page
www.childministry.com and order the first series.
Series A is all about God the Creator. The key
questions are answered that every child wants to know.
Who made them? What else did God Make? Why were they
made? How can they glorify their Creator? Why should
they glorify God? These are timeless questions that old
and young have. The other series cover other basics of
the Christian faith. They are stand alone and you could
even start with Series O: "He is Coming Again".

these distinctive lessons.
Some Other Helps

-
Did you want your children to study the
personal character qualities introduced in the Bible and
better yet see these same qualities part of your child's
behavior? There are around 50 character qualities
explained from a biblical perspective in three volumes
just $12.50 each.
-
Here's
a way to "kick-start" your family devotions for your
church. CMI has developed three smaller (fits into
Bible) booklets with all the questions of the Shorter
Catechism in them (taken from Westminster Confession of
Faith). Each lesson (which can be spread over the week
or shorter) has songs, prayers, Bible stories and lots
of questions. Only $6.00 each.
