Spring is here in Atlanta in
all its beauty with the azaleas and dogwoods in full bloom.
Children's Ministry International (CMI) is located in Tucker,
Georgia, 11 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.
What
many Church Christian educators begin thinking about in
the spring is Vacation Bible School and other summer activities
coming up! Did you know that any of our 14 "Bible
Building Blocks of the Faith" series can be easily adapted
to VBS format? Now with song CD's and memory
verse cards available its easy to select a series for your
VBS program . UNLIKE other VBS materials you don't throw
away CMI materials, they are ready to be used over and over
again.
May we suggest
Series C: God's Wonderful Library for your VBS needs.
The format has been revised to make it even more teacher-friendly.
This series takes you through the Bible acquainting children
with the structure of the Bible, why it was written, the
difference between the Old and New Testaments and a whole
lot more. Try it or any other series. Maybe
the
Attributes of God (Series B),
God's Covenants and Promises (Series E),
How to Fight the Deceiver (Series F) or the
Lord's Prayer (Series M) (link to Bible Building
Blocks of the Faith). This is just the beginning!
And as all of our material, these lessons are non-consumable,
non-dated and multi-aged.
The most exciting thing about
CMI materials is that the kids retain what they are learning.
How can we say that? Because review each week is an
integral part of the program. Also, the songs, memory
verses and Bible stories all review and review. Our
goal is to have the question and answer from each lesson
firmly planted in the child's mind, to make these basic
questions of Christian doctrine.

1. Why
is Easter so special?
Don't
get caught up in the name taken from the Greek "Eostre",
which was the pagan holiday of the period celebrating the
Greek Goddess of Fertility-Eostre. Maybe a better
name for the season is "Pasche", taken from the Passover
season when the first Easter occurred.
The Christian Easter replaced the Old Testament Passover
for the sacrificial lamb had now appeared as man, the God-Man
Jesus Christ. Instead of a symbolic lamb being sacrificed
during Passover as an expression of remembering God "passing
over" the Israelites who sprinkled the blood on the door
posts of their homes. Jesus now fulfills all that
was pointed to in the Old Testament. Messiah has come,
Messiah has died for our sins, Messiah is risen from the
dead overcoming the last enemy, and Messiah is now ascended
to heaven to be with the Father.
As we follow him through His final week before the crucifixion
and resurrection we see the Old Testament prophesies fulfilled
in His triumphal entry into Jerusalem, His clearing the
Temple of the money changers, the Last Supper, His Betrayal
and Trial, the Crucifixion itself and the
Resurrection.
Easter is really celebrated every week by the fact that
Jesus is no longer dead, He is risen and ascended to the
Father on high.
CMI's
"It Is Finished" explains all the major themes of
Easter or Pashe. We've received excellent reviews
and it is only $19.95 for a reusable series of four lessons
(many churches and individuals just teach it over one or
two weeks). It also has a coloring book.

2. CMI's new
Christian Character Curriculum is just what many
of you have been searching for in trying to instill Godly
principles into the lives of our covenant children.
Around 50 character qualities found throughout Scripture
are clearly depicted in these three $12.50 volumes that
can be used over and over again.

Not only is the character quality biblically defined, but
a visualized memory verse is given, two Bible stories demonstrating
how this quality was depicted in Scripture and then lots
of practical exercises showing the children how the character
quality can be depicted in our actions. There is also
a character chart for each child on how the child shows
his/her understanding of it and how the child sees it displayed
around him/her.
This would be a perfect series for a Sunday evening program,
Wednesday night activity, or available anytime you need
a lesson for a children's program during another adult activity
(like a Woman's Bible study or meal).

3.
CMI just returned from Memphis where Brad Winsted and three
of his children did a children's program during a church's
mission conference. We used lessons from
"Telling His Story" a series CMI specifically
developed for Mission Conferences. Director Brad Winsted
spoke on several occasions during the weekend about how
CMI helps churches and parents with their Christian education
needs. One of the presentations was at an inner city
ministry where over 100 kids were given our lesson on
"Charley the Gospel Worm" .
Why
not check out what CMI has to offer churches and groups
in the way of seminars. CMI staff has taught at summer
camps, presented Parenting/Covenant Life conferences,
Child-rearing conferences, Teaching Teachers to Teach workshops
and a host of other themes/seminars. Check it out
on our web page

4.
"The Covenant Road: Journey Through the Bible"
was a product introduced last year for pre-school, pre-readers,
that took them through the Old Testament stories chronologically
in an easy to use format (non-flannelboard).
These Old Testament stories come alive and it is clearly
explained how Christ is foreshadowed in the stories.
This series was a response to those of you who did not want
a question and answer approach we use in the "Bible Building
Blocks of the Faith" and didn't want to use a flannelboard.
These Old Testament stories starting with Creation are colorfully
laid out, along with a song CD so that children can sing
the memory verses they are learning. There are simple
crafts and like all CMI material this is non-consumable
so you can use it over and over again. All of this
for only $39 and a coloring book comes with it!
