Make this Reformation Day
(October 31) special for your kids!
Reformation
Day is traditionally celebrated on October 31 every year
in recognition of Martin Luther pinning the 95 theses on
the Wittenburg Church Door in Germany in 1517 thus
starting the Reformation. Much of our Christian
heritage (the authority of Scripture alone,
justification by faith apart from works, Christ's
completed work on the cross being sufficient for payment
of our sins and to God alone going the glory for all
things) comes from the events (and Reformers) preceding
this event and following it. For instance, John Wycliffe
and John Hus came before Luther yet were trying to do
many of the same things (reforming the Roman Catholic
Church by making the Bible higher than church traditions
in the Christian religion) and John Knox, John Calvin
and John Bunyan coming after Luther.
There are many ingenious and edifying ways of
celebrating this date and it allows a Christ-honoring
way of dealing with Halloween. See Children's Ministry
International's article on
Reformation Day at Your
Church for some
exciting suggestions to "reform" Halloween.
"HEROES
OF REFORMATION" greatly revised and expanded.
Yes, at long last our always popular "HEROES OF THE
REFORMATION" has been expanded to include six other
Reformers. Now your children (ages 5 through 12
....although I know a lot of ignorant parents too!) can
learn about the lives of John Wycliffe, John Huss,
William Tyndale, Oliver Cromwell, John Bunyan and
Jonathan Edwards along with Martin Luther, Ulrich
Zwingli, John Knox and John Calvin (who were in our
original book). All in this reusable book
(non-flannelboard) format.
Haven't you often wanted your students to understand the
great doctrines of "Sola Scriptura" (by Scripture
Alone), "Sola Fide" (by Faith Alone), "Sola Christo" (by
Christ Alone), and "Soli Deo Gloria" (to God alone be
the Glory)? Well, here is your opportunity to make it
happen throughout the month of October culminating in
"REFORMATION SUNDAY", or during October and November as a
break from other curriculums. If you don't finish all
the lives of the Reformers this year...no problem. Take
up next year where you stopped.
Why not show your children where their Reformation
Heritage came from and the Reformers who made it
possible? Along with these lessons (four weeks
worth....the month of October or November) comes a great
"time line craft" of the Reformation and map of Europe
so that your students can understand the chronology and
geography of the Reformation. Order "HEROES OF THE
REFORMATION" for only $17.50 off of our newly redesigned
web page

Celebrating Reformation
Day at Your Church
Have
you often wondered what to do with Halloween? What kid
doesn't like getting dressed up and filling a bag with
treats? Well, there is a God-glorifying way to do it!
Have a Reformation Day celebration at your church where
adults and children dress as Bible or Reformation
characters, and there are a host of fun games and
activities to fill the evening.
Some churches have transformed their fellowship halls
into Wittenburg, Germany or played "Reformation Games"
through the night after a "German Covered Dish
Supper". Our newly revised book, "HEROES OF THE
REFORMATION" tells you how to "redeem" this dark day
into something God-glorifying!
Also read the
article on our web page about the origins of
Halloween and the great possibilities of Reformation
Day.

Getting
Ready for "ADVENT"
Have you ever heard of a "Jesse Tree", the family tree of
Christ? We know as Christians that out of the "root of
Jesse" came Christ, but do children really understand
that throughout the Old Testament God is pointing the
way for the coming Savior or Messiah? Now they can
understand this by studying these stories and putting a
symbol representing those stories on a "Jesse Tree". By
the end of the season you will have a tree filled with
symbols of Jesus' heritage. Why not build a Jesse Tree
this Christmas season with one of two offerings from
CMI? We have developed four complete Advent lessons for
churches, or a series for the family of Advent Lessons
every day through the Advent season for family devotion.
Advent is the celebration of Christ's coming to earth as
man. Children's Ministry International has taken
stories in the Old and New Testaments that point to the
coming of Christ on earth. God becoming man. There is
also a coloring book available for children that has all
of the stories ready to color.
The cost is $25.00 for the Advent book for churches and
$29.00 for the Advent book for families. A coloring
book is also available for $3.00.

Second
Volume of "CHRISTIAN CHARACTER
CURRICULUM" nears completion!
We hope to have our second volume of the
"Christian Character Curriculum" available for sale by
the beginning of October. Almost 50 character qualities
found throughout the Scriptures are brought to life in
these volumes. Volume one has been available for
several years with the first 13 qualities that you would
want to teach your youngest children. The next volume
is nearing completion and will offer several
improvements over the first volume. We have visualized
a verse dealing with the character quality and improved
the overall presentation of the character quality trait.
In Volume II, not only will 18 new character qualities
defined biblically, but the main Bible verses that
define the quality will be "visualized" to allow the
child to better understand how Scripture defines the
term. A whole series of exercises/activities are then
listed that a teacher can do with a child to help develop
this character trait in children.
You can demonstrate the character quality of frugality
because the cost of these volumes are only $12.50 each.
We hope to have the third volume out by the end of the
year.
For the children,
