May 2009 CMI Newsletter
Quick News Flash!
Children's
Ministry International teachers just got back from a
Mission to the World (MTW- the missionary arm of the
PCA) in Spain just a week ago. This is CMI's 25th year
(Silver Anniversary) in conducting children's
conferences for mission groups.
This
time we took 19 teachers to instruct the children in
Series B: Questions and Answers About God
and it was a big success. Over 500 missionaries and
their families gathered together for this week-long
conference in southern Spain.
CMI had the children for
around six hours a day. The week was culminated in the
children presenting to their missionary parents an
assembly where they recited their memory verses,
catechism questions and answers learned and sang
numerous songs. If you are interested in teaching short
term overseas at our next conference, check the
qualifications in the article, "Be
A CMI Teacher Overseas".
Can You Teach Christian Character?
CMI has all the Biblical Character Qualities in Three
Workbooks!

Christian
Character Curriculum Volumes 1-3
How about this whole area
of biblical character qualities--are they important to
learn? Are they teachable? How much should we examine
them? Is God really concerned about character or how we
act? Surely God has given us salvation as a "free-gift"
there is nothing we can do to earn it. But, how should
we then live our "new lives in Christ"? God is certainly
concerned about how we act.
The
book of Proverbs and large sections of the Psalms, the
Gospels, the Epistles specifically exhort believers to
act or live in a way that would bring glory to God.
Whether it is in loving our neighbor as ourselves, being
honest in our transactions with others, speaking the
truth in love, avoiding hypocrisy, putting the needs of
others before our own, the list goes on and on. We
should certainly present ourselves to God as "one
approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and
who correctly handles the Word of truth."
CMI has taken 50 character qualities found throughout
Scripture broken them into three work books and examined
each character quality in detail. The quality is
biblically defined, memory verses are given, Bible
stories are presented where this quality is observed
closely in action.
And
then numerous practical exercises/games/activities are
presented in how the child can see this quality around
them or practice it him/herself. At the end of each
quality there is a "character chart" where the young
person can record how he or she saw it in themselves or
in another person. The visualized memory verses can be
colored as another exercise or craft.
Churches
have used these books to supplement teaching children
around adult Bible studies, Wednesday night meetings,
children's church, or character lessons. Homeschoolers
have benefited from the ease of using the materials over
and over again in a variety of teaching environments.
There are as many applications or uses for the materials
as there are qualities studied.
The best news is that each teacher workbook (there are
no other things to buy--everything is in the teacher's
book to copy or use) is
only
$12.50.
