CMI needs your
help
to Send Teachers
for Missionary Children
Friends of Children's Ministry International,
HELP!
Most of you
know that one of Children's Ministry International's missions
is to support worldwide missions. CMI has been doing
the children's program for regional and international
mission groups for a QUARTER
CENTURY (since the mid-1980's). Most of the
programs have been for the missionary children of Mission
to the World (the missionary arm of the PCA).
We have also done trips for Wycliffe Bible Translators,
Arab World Ministries and Frontiers Missions. The
kids receive a quality, fun program while their parents
are at important meetings. The children, ages 3 to
12, learn Bible Memory verses, games and songs. The
many outcomes of these conferences includes allowing CMI
to expand it's translation programs, of which we have one
in Arabic and completed curriculum in Spanish, Swedish,
Russian, Bulgarian, Czech and Turkish. Most of these
translation projects came out of such conferences.
This
April we will be using CMI's
Series B: Questions and Answers About God.
This popular series will ensure the children
know all that our God is all knowing, all powerful, all
seeing and ever present
When the parents see how
much Scripture their children have learned and how much
they have enjoyed learning it, they are naturally interested
in getting CMI's "Bible
Building Blocks of the Faith" curriculum
in the language they are working with. Missionaries
use local nationals to ensure the translations are accurate.
This
April, Mission to the World (MTW), has asked us
to do the children's program for their Europe/Africa regional
conference. The exact details of the European
site and date cannot be given for security reasons, but
18 CMI teachers will be going to teach these precious missionary
children for a week while their parents are in conference
meetings.
As
most of you know our teachers must raise the airfare
expenses to get over there . Many of our teachers
are in their late teens or early twenties and have limited
means and contacts. We are expecting travel expenses to
be around
$20,000!
Being a friend of this small ministry is where you can help.
Could you pray that our teachers will be in "good shape"
to teach for a week, that they will be prepared and receive
help to defray some of the travel costs? CMI
is a non-profit organization, therefore, your donation would
be tax-deductable.
Please consider how you can make this trip to support missionaries
in one of the "toughest" areas of the world possible.

What's New at CMI?
Our
first volume of CMI's "HOLIDAY SERIES" was a big success. We looked
biblically at how we might celebrate New Year's, MLK Day,
Valentine's Day, President's Day, Saint Patrick's Day and Easter.
There were visualized Bible verses, the background of the holiday
celebration, a Bible story relating to the theme of the day, crafts,
coloring pages and a song CD (with children singing). All of this
for only $21.00!
Now,
you can continue having an alternative to either ignoring these
special days (as unredeemable) or falling into our secular culture
in making these days simply a celebration largely of the flesh. In I
Corinthians 10:31 the Bible says, "So whether you eat or drink or
whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." Should we not then
look at periods of celebration to consider what God has said on the
subject?
Our
children are naturally interested in these days because of our
culture. Either the day is an actual holiday or they see others
joyously "celebrating them" for reasons that often obscure or
downright "pagan". We don't need to retreat in our parenting or
instructional duties, we can provide a biblical perspective and
these "HOLIDAY SERIES" are a tremendous alternative.
The
Bible has many verses on honoring our father and mother starting
with the 5th Commandment, "Honor your father and your mother, so
that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you."
Indeed, its the first commandment with a promise! A great way to
honor our parents is in the celebration of span Mother's and
Father's Day. Sadly, its become a market-driven day(s) of taking Mom
out to dinner, buying her some flowers or getting Dad another tie or
sports/hobby equipment. We can and should do so much more!
There are many proverbs showing us how to honor our parents; such as
Proverbs 15:20, "A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish
man despises his mother." Or, Proverbs 6:20-23, "My son, keep your
father's commands and do not forsake your mother's teaching.. Bind
them upon your heart forever....For these commands are a lamp, this
teaching is a light..." We ignore our parents at great risk. Our
society has fenced off its older fathers and mothers and shuns them,
the Bible tells us the opposite. Regrettably, our schools and
institutions replace parents by becoming surrogate guides and
counselors. The results have greatly damaged America, sown
uncertainty in parenting and division in our homes.
Our
Holiday Series, Volume II can give parents and churches a
great alternative to these days of honoring our parents. You will
also be pleased to learn how this Memorial Day we can honor those
who have sacrificed for us. This July 4th we can see where true
freedom lies (in Christ). This Labor Day we can understand why all
of our work is God's work as we "do unto others as we would want
them to do unto us".
Volume
III covers
Columbus Day, Reformation Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving,
Christmas
